SUPARCO has successfully launched Pak-SBAS, Pakistan’s advanced Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS), during the prestigious Cholistan Rally 2026 held from 11 February to 15 February 2026. The launch marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s precision navigation and satellite-based positioning capabilities.

Pak-SBAS is an indigenous precision navigation solution designed to enhance the performance of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) by providing correction signals that significantly reduce positional errors. The system was deployed under the extreme desert conditions of Cholistan, where high speeds, unpredictable routes, shifting sand dunes, and limited visual markers require exceptional positioning accuracy and signal reliability.

During the rally stages, drivers used Pak-SBAS for real-time route tracking and navigation support. The system demonstrated enhanced positioning precision, improved route integrity, and stable signal performance throughout the event. By leveraging SBAS correction technology, Pak-SBAS delivered substantially greater accuracy compared to conventional standalone GNSS systems. This improvement provided rally drivers and navigation teams with increased confidence in route tracking, a critical factor in competitive desert racing.

The successful demonstration at Cholistan Rally 2026 highlights SUPARCO’s growing expertise in satellite navigation technologies and its commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s space-based infrastructure. Beyond motorsports, Pak-SBAS offers significant national benefits. It can enhance disaster response operations through precise tracking of rescue teams and affected areas, improve fleet management and transportation efficiency with accurate vehicle positioning, and support safer aviation navigation by increasing positional reliability.

The introduction of Pak-SBAS represents a major advancement in Pakistan’s indigenous navigation ecosystem and reinforces SUPARCO’s role in developing high-precision satellite-based solutions for national development and public benefit.
