On January 17, 2025, Pakistan achieved a significant milestone in space technology as SUPARCO successfully launched the Pakistan’s first indigenous Electro-Optical (EO-1) satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northern China.
The EO-1 satellite is equipped with advanced electro-optical sensors designed to capture high-resolution images and data by detecting reflected sunlight and emitted radiation from Earth’s surface. This breakthrough will significantly enhance Pakistan’s capabilities in remote sensing, natural resource management, disaster monitoring, urban development, and agricultural planning.The launch of EO1 further expands the SUPARCO Remote Sensing Satellite fleet, reinforcing Pakistan’s strategic presence in space and remote sensing technologies.The EO-1 satellite is expected to play a critical role in national development projects, enabling data-driven decision-making in environmental monitoring, land use planning, and climate change assessments.
